1. Photo access and on-device editing

Lightura processes photos you choose with the system Photos picker or file picker. Decoding, RAW/ProRAW/Indigo DNG development, HDR/SDR mapping, color editing, denoising, cropping, and exporting take place on your device. The app does not automatically send photos, originals, photographic metadata, or editing sessions to the developer or a model service.

To read the original resource for a selected photo, such as a RAW original edited in Photos, the app may request photo-library permission. Access is limited by the permissions you grant, whether limited or full. The app does not scan your entire library in the background. You can change permissions in Settings or import through the file picker instead.

2. Subject, depth, and mask analysis

When you use subject/background selection or background blur, the app analyzes the selected photo on your device to generate subject coverage, depth, or disparity data. It may also read usable native auxiliary data. Subject analysis uses the bundled BiRefNet Lite model, with Apple Vision as a fallback when needed. If native depth is unavailable, the app uses the bundled Depth Anything V2 Small model. This version does not need to download these models or upload photos for cloud inference or training.

Subject analysis defines editing selections and protects contours; it does not identify the real-world identity of people or animals. Color/luminance selections, brushes, and gradients also generate masks on your device. Derived data may be retained in memory caches or editing sessions to reuse computation and record edits. This data is not included in automatically generated diagnostic reports.

3. Local copies, sessions, and caches

To access originals, keep editing state, and improve preview speed, the app may store imported photo copies, original filenames, editing parameters, layer names, mask data, session state, and temporary processing files in its own storage. Automatic restoration of the previous photo and adjustments at startup is disabled in this version. This does not stop local sessions and photo copies from being saved. Editing state may remain while the current app process returns to Home, switches editing pages, or enters the background.

The app cleans up some unreferenced originals and temporary files, but does not promise to delete all data immediately whenever it closes. Deleting the app, rather than offloading it while keeping its data, can remove its local data from the device. Copies already exported to Photos, Files, or other services are not removed with the app. If system backups include app data, those backups are managed by Apple or the relevant system service and your settings.

4. iCloud, exporting, and sharing

If a selected photo is stored only in iCloud Photos or iCloud Drive, Apple's Photos, Files, and iCloud services may need a network connection to provide or download the original. The app can display retrieval/download progress supplied by the system. This process is managed by Apple's services, network permissions, and system settings; it is not an upload to the developer.

Exported photos are created on your device. Exports may preserve EXIF and other photographic metadata from the source. If the source contains camera, capture-time, or GPS information, the exported photo may still contain it. Displaying this metadata does not send it to the developer.

Exported photos are separate from diagnostic reports. Only after you choose to share or save a photo does the selected app or service handle it and its metadata under its own terms.

5. Optional diagnostics and email feedback

The app keeps a rolling cache on your device of up to the 160 most recent filtered diagnostic events to generate an optional fault report. iOS may clear this cache.

Automatically generated diagnostic JSON may include the app version and build number, device model, system version, memory usage, and event times, categories, and limited numeric values such as image format, dimensions, operation duration, progress, and error codes. It does not include photo pixels, original filenames, file paths, EXIF, GPS, custom layer names, or mask/depth-map content.

Reports leave your device only after you confirm sending an email or choose to share them through the system share feature. This version has no configured in-app diagnostic network-upload service and does not upload reports automatically in the background. Problem descriptions you write in an email, attachments you add, and sender information supplied by your email service are also handled by that service and the recipient. Redaction of the generated JSON does not mean all content you add to an email has been redacted.

The developer may associate a received report with its sender to reply to feedback, investigate faults, and improve stability and performance. You can decline to send, cancel the email, or inspect the report first. Email and system-share services process data under their own terms.

6. Advertising, tracking, and model services

This app does not display ads, track advertising across apps, or automatically send photos or diagnostic events to advertising, analytics, or external AI services. Image analysis currently uses local models and Apple system frameworks. Third-party licenses and model sources are available from Home under Privacy and Licenses → Third-Party Licenses.

7. Contact and deletion requests

For privacy questions or requests to delete feedback and diagnostic reports sent to the developer, contact tints-etchers7b@icloud.com. The developer will handle requests as required by applicable law and within the developer's actual control. Copies stored by email, system-share, or backup services are managed by those services and their recipients. This policy does not promise a fixed retention period for reports or email.

8. TestFlight testing

If you install this app through TestFlight, Apple handles testing activity, crash logs, and feedback you submit under its TestFlight and privacy terms. TestFlight may provide crash reports to the developer. Screenshots and written feedback you submit may also be made available in App Store Connect. The tester and device information visible to the developer depends on the data Apple provides and the invitation method. This processing is managed by Apple's testing services and is separate from diagnostic reports generated by this app. See Apple's current information for details.
